About NRRC

The Nepal Risk Reduction Consortium (NRRC) is a unique arrangement that unites humanitarian and development partners with financial institutions in partnership with the Government of Nepal (GoN) in order to reduce Nepal's vulnerability to natural disasters. Based on the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) and Nepal's National Strategy for Disaster Risk Management (NSDRM), the NRRC has identified 5 flagship priorities for sustainable disaster risk management.

To implement the set objectives of the NSDRM which was approved in 2009, the GoN launched the NRRC on February 2011. The NRRC is an innovative structure that brings together a wide range of governmental, development and humanitarian partners, UN agencies, I/NGOs, donors, Red Cross/Red Crescent Movement and international financial institutions. The NRRC works to initiate multi-stakeholders participatory approach to address the high risk of natural disasters, both large and small in scale.
